He was born on March 11, 1974 in a Rajput Kshatriya family in the town of Nahan in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh.He never took formal training in music, but sings and plays guitar and the flute.After completing his education in Himachal, Chauhan came to Delhi where he formed the band Silk Route with his schoolmate Kem Trevedi (pianist) in 1996.He started his career singing Indian pop songs with the band Silk Route, which released two albums, Boondein (1998) and Pehchan.He won many awards for Delhi 6, Rockstar, Once upon a time in Mumbai.etc.It is quite impractical to pick BEST songs from his songs, however here is a list of some of my favorite songs of Mohit ji.
Description:Mohit Chauhan is an Indian playback singer. He started his career with one of the successful Indipop bands, Silk Route in 1998. He released two albums with Silk Route titled 'Boondein' and 'Pehchan'. When the band got dissolved in 2008, Chauhan made his first solo album called 'Kalaam' for which he composed the music and also wrote the lyrics. Mohit Chauhan tasted success when his song 'Dooba Dooba' from the Silk Route album 'Boondein' became a super hit. The album climbed to number one slot and went on to win many awards at Channel [V] Awards in 1998. He later sang for A.R. Rahman in 'Rang De Basanti' and 'Delhi-6'. His big moment came when he snag 'Tum Se He' from the super hit movie 'Jab We Met'. Since then he went on to sing for most of the established music directors in Hindi film industry.
