She says that being a gay activist has not been easy for her; she has received many threats from many cultural groups and has also lost out on work. Yet, today she is happy and believes that it is a very important day in the history of human rights, as the gay community will receive their basic human rights today. Being a part of the Bollywood industry, she said Indian movies portrays homosexuality either in a very serious art form of cinema or in a funny manner, the compassionate side of it has never been revealed in the films.
